14th Season for Cabarrus County Ringers Horses - 4/1/2010
The Cabarrus County Ringers Horseshoe League will begin its 2010 season on April 1st (Thursday).

Matches are played behind the YMCA on West “C” St. They are played on Mondays and Thursdays. Times will be 5:45PM thru April, and starting in May, the times will be 5:45PM and 6:45PM for the rest of the league.

Gallery Talk, potter Gay Smith

Thursday, April 8, 7 p.m., The Galleries at the Cabarrus Arts Council, 65 Union Street S, Concord. Smith, a potter who works near Penland, NC, creates pieces of porcelain clay formed and altered on the potter’s wheel. Her goal is for her pots to look alive and a bit whimsical. Her work is represented internationally and she has been an artist in residence at the Penland School and the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana. Bruster's Real Ice Cream - Blood Drive - 4/24/2009
Give a pint - get a pint! The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas' Blood Mobile will be accepting blood donations outside Bruster's Real Ice Cream from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 2257 Spider Drive in Kannapolis. Blood donors will receive a voucher for a free pint of Bruster's real ice cream.

Art Exhibition, A Time and Place

March 29-May 20, The Galleries at the Cabarrus Arts Council, 65 Union Street S, Concord. A love of the land and places held dear are the heart of this show. It features Walter Stanford’s Century Farms series of paintings, urban landscapes by Julyan Davis, clocks by Irene Semanchuk, birdhouses by Rolf Holmquist and place settings and teapots by Penland potters. Other artists include Robbie Barber, Bre Barnett Crowell, Barking Spider Pottery, Cynthia Decker, Nick Joerling, Suze Lindsay, Holden McCurry, Kent McLaughlin, Ken Sedberry, Ralston Fox Smith and Gay Smith. April Events at the Concord Library

Concord Library On Tuesday, April 13, 2010, Tom Daoust, a certified financial products & services expert, will present “Employment Transitions-Making Financial Decisions During a Career Change” in the auditorium at the Cabarrus County Public Library at Concord. He will discuss how to navigate the financial aspects of a job transition, including benefits, budgeting, retirement rollovers, and dealing with tax issues. There will be two sessions at 10am & 4pm; registration is required. Call 704.920.2050 to register and for more information.

The Cabarrus County Public Library at Concord will present “Stages of Senior Care” on Wednesday, April 14, at 5:30pm in the Auditorium. Robin Scharding of Home Instead Senior Care will discuss the various plans and options for caring for seniors and aging loved ones. This program is free and open to the public. On Wednesday, April 21, 2010, the Concord Library will present Internet Job Searching 101 at 3pm in the computer area. This class will demonstrate how to explore online job search sites, how to apply for jobs on different sites, and how to use the Internet to make online job searching more fruitful and productive.
